Multi-order picking with 80 operators at a 3PL
A 3PL logistics provider needed to speed up multi-order picking across 80 staff without increasing lot errors. Here is the problem on the ground, the technical approach and the measured result.
The problem on the ground
The picking flow was slowed down by constant application switching: operators moved back and forth between the WMS and the client's ERP to look up references and confirm lines.
Typing lot references by hand introduced errors that propagated downstream, forcing rework and putting the lines-per-hour target of the contractual SLA at risk.
The technical approach
We introduced the picking module of Kazam as the operational WMS and Cattura as an AI scanner for barcode reading and on-device OCR of fill lots, directly on the Zebra terminals already in use.
The captured value lands in the active field through a universal keyboard wedge, with no application switching for the operator. Integration with the client's ERP runs over REST, keeping lines and confirmations aligned in real time.
The measured result
Duplicate manual scans and context switching between applications were eliminated.
A 35% reduction in lot errors and a rise in lines per hour per operator, back above the contractual SLA threshold.
