Application examples

Where our software solves concrete problems

Three typical scenarios where Suntech has already stepped in — the problem on the ground, the approach taken, the measurable result.

Distribution · 3PL

Multi-order picking with 80 operators

Problem: picking flow slowed down by constant application switching between the WMS and the client's ERP. Typing errors on lot references.

Approach: Kazam WMS picking module + Cattura as an AI scanner for barcodes and OCR of fill lots. Integration with the client's ERP via REST.

Result: duplicate manual scans eliminated, 35% reduction in lot errors, lines/h per operator raised above the contractual SLA threshold.

Manufacturing · food

End-to-end lot traceability

Problem: quality audits took hours to reconstruct the chain of a finished lot. Data scattered across SAP, the labelling machine and line PLC logs.

Approach: Suntech middleware that aggregates in real time the BOM from SAP, the packaging event via Siemens PLC (OPC UA) and the verification scan with Cattura on the line.

Result: backward traceability of a lot in under 2 minutes, audits prepared in advance, zero documentation non-conformities over the last 18 months.

Automation · shuttle

Shuttle orchestration across 3 sites

Problem: Autosat and Challenger shuttles of different generations, managed by heterogeneous vendor software, with stock misaligned across warehouses.

Approach: centralized Kazam WES as a vendor-neutral orchestrator, custom Suntech drivers for the two shuttle vendors, nightly reconciliation with the ERP.

Result: stock aligned across the 3 sites in real time, automatic cross-site transfers enabled, simplified decision to onboard a fourth site.

How we work

A clear path, no surprises

We're not an agency selling man-days. Before we write code we understand the problem. Before we sign a contract we show you architecture and timing. Before go-live we validate on site.

1

Operational discovery

An on-site visit to the client or an in-depth call with the technical and operational contacts. We map the real flows, not the declared ones.

2

Technical-functional document

We deliver an analysis with the proposed architecture, the required integrations, the identified risks, and binding timelines and costs. Not a sales pitch.

3

Prototype on a real environment

Before committing to the full project, we validate the critical assumptions on the ground (e.g. OCR read times in a low-light warehouse, latency towards the ERP, PLC compatibility).

4

Iterative delivery

Incremental releases with the client testing continuously. UAT not as a final formality but as a weekly checkpoint.

5

Supervised go-live

A Suntech engineer on site on cutover day. A direct channel kept open for the first two weeks of operation.

6

Continuous evolution

An agreed roadmap, regular releases, clear SLAs. The software we deliver is not a closed project: it's an asset that grows with the company.

When it makes sense to involve us

Cases where Suntech really makes the difference

We're not the right fit for every project. Here's where we're effective — and where we prefer to be upfront from the start.

Projects with strong on-site component

Where the software has to talk to terminals, PLCs, readers, scales, shuttles. Where a clean ER schema isn't enough: you need to understand how to handle an operator working at -20°C wearing gloves.

Non-trivial ERP integrations

Customized Italian SAP, on-prem Dynamics with vertical add-ons, custom-configured Zucchetti, legacy Oracle. We've seen demanding scenarios and we know how to handle them without breaking the client's ERP.

Non-negotiable 24/7 operations

Warehouses that never stop, continuous production lines, healthcare. We write code that has to run without crashing — with monitoring, retry, failover, all documented.

And where we are not the right choice

Purely web-based projects with no industrial component, B2C e-commerce, marketing sites. That's not our domain. In those cases, we point you to colleagues who are a better fit.

POC-only projects

We're interested in projects that go into production. If you're looking for a POC for an internal demo with no prospect of go-live, we're probably not your fit.

Turnkey implementations with no system access

We don't work on projects where the client won't give access to the real environment or won't involve the line technicians. The quality of our delivery depends on the depth of context.

Industries

Where we deliver value

Real operations in manual and automated logistics, manufacturing, structured retail, healthcare and every context that requires industrial data capture and operational mobility.

Logistics & distribution

3PL, distributors, regional platforms. Inbound/outbound flows, voice picking, wedge, pick-to-light, mission and replenishment optimization.

Automated warehouses

Integration with Autosat, Challenger, Exotec shuttles and conveyor systems. WES/WCS logic to orchestrate stock, positions and cycles.

Manufacturing

Lot traceability, production progress tracking, MES integration, line data capture, backward traceability for quality and audits.

Structured retail

Shelf inventories, store management, price controls. Zebra terminals on the floor with AI scanning and universal wedge.

Healthcare

Medication administration, patient wristbands, sample and lot management. No sensitive data leaves the device thanks to on-device AI.

Operational mobility

Operators on the line, on-site, in the field. Rugged terminals, offline-first apps, deferred sync.

Partners

A technical partner, not just a vendor

We work with integrators, resellers and technology partners who need real expertise, design flexibility and concrete support in developing or distributing software solutions for industrial and logistics contexts.
