End-to-end lot traceability in food
At a food manufacturer, quality audits took hours to reconstruct the chain of a finished lot. Here is how we made traceability immediate.
The problem on the ground
Reconstructing the chain of a finished lot took hours, because the data was scattered across SAP, the labelling machine and the line PLC logs.
Quality audits became a costly, reactive exercise, with a real risk of documentation non-conformities.
The technical approach
We built a Suntech that aggregates in real time the bill of materials (BOM) from SAP, the packaging event captured via Siemens PLC (OPC UA) and the verification scan performed with Cattura directly on the line.
Every event is correlated to the lot and made queryable, building a consistent, complete traceability chain with no manual work.
The measured result
Backward traceability of a lot in under 2 minutes.
Audits prepared in advance and zero documentation non-conformities over the last 18 months.
